Community Ministry

A young member of our church helping to deliver hot meals to needy families in our community during the Helping Hands Ministries event on April 6.

The Community Ministry Advocate is to discern at least one need in our community (tutoring, feeding the hungry, home repair, yard work for the needy, clothing drives, food drives, school supplies, shelter, disaster response, etc.) and then plan and implement an ongoing process to engage our congregation to begin to meet this need with their time, talents, money, and other resources.

Activities the Community Ministry Team have included:

The Angel Tree - occurs during the Christmas season.

Repair drywall - During our most recent hurricane, Hurricane Isaac, an area Methodist church was in need of repair. So we gathered and repaired drywall.

Helping Hands Ministries -When Helping Hands Ministries of Ponchatoula cooked lots of jambalaya here in Amite, our Community Ministry Team gathered to help with delivering the delicious meals to needy households in our city.
